Christian Formation Offerings for Children
Sundays 9:45 - 10:30.
Children ages 3 years to Pre-Kindergarten gather at 9:45 AM in the pre-school classroom (#1) in the Undercroft. We use the Living the Good News which is described below. Children in this age group should be able to sit for a 10 minute story and they must be able to go to the bathroom by themselves. Parents should arrive to pick up their children in the classroom at 10:25 AM.
Children in Kindergarten through 1st Grade are invited to join the Godly Play class in the undercroft. This class gathers at 9:45 AM in classroom (#3) and then moves to the Godly Play story room (#2) for our Bible Story each morning. Following the story, we use both classrooms for further exploration of the story. Parents should arrive to pick up their children in the classroom at 10:25 AM.
Children in Grades 2nd - 6th grades also begin at 9:45 AM in their classrooms in the undercroft. Each of these classes will use Living the Good News curriculum. Children will be dismissed at 10:25.
Curriculums Used in Sunday Morning Children’s Offerings:
"Living the Good News"
This will be used in our Pre-K class and also for grades 2 - 6. The curriculum uses the readings from Sunday’s scripture to explore God’s Word. Each week, teachers will have the option of using one or more of the selected readings. This curriculum will reinforce the stories that the children will hear in the church service. The program offers teachers a choice of acting, art, games and much more to further delve into the scripture.
"Godly Play"
Godly Play is a method of Christian Formation and Spiritual Direction for children. Godly Play encourages children to reflect upon Bible stories, religious parables, and lessons about religious traditions to help them become more fully aware of the mystery of God’s presence around them and in their lives. Stories are told with wonderful interactive pieces and then the children explore the story more fully through art and other projects.
